Ask yourself why you’re behaving this way toward people who may not truly deserve it. What can you do if you need to change, and how?
- Start a journal for 30–90 days to outline all the details of your new journey.
- List all the people you think you have hurt through your behavior. Be honest and recognize your patterns.
- Write on a separate page all the lies you remember telling.
- Create an action plan detailing who and how you will make amends. You can always revisit and add more people later.
- Express your current feelings. Each time you write, reflect honestly. Are you jealous of their freedom, happiness, beauty, energy, or something else?
- Identify what you’re missing in your life—emotions, money, friendships, or something else.
- Brainstorm what you can do daily to change your life and take steps toward improvement.
- Reconnect with friends. Try to go out with them weekly or as often as possible.
- Reflect on any differences in your feelings after making amends. Note any improvements and take action on solutions to change lingering negative feelings.
- Revisit your journal from the beginning to see the progress you’ve made. Be proud of yourself and allow the process to take as much time as needed, even beyond 90 days.
Stay consistent and give yourself grace during this journey of growth and healing.
